Born in 1840 in Yorkshire, England, Thomas Crosby immigrated to Ingersoll, Ontario with his parents at the age of sixteen. He was converted at a methodist revival meeting at the age of 21 and answered the call to become a missionary soon after. He arrived in British Columbia in 1863, and had extraordinary experiences as he traveled throughout Chilliwack, Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and the Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and the Vancouver area preaching to the Indigenous peoples and spearheading missionary projects across the province.

Crosby witnessed many conversions during his mission work - including prominent chiefs - and worked as a missionary and pastor for over forty hears. His fascinating story, which has largely been forgotten in recent decades, deserves to be read and remembered once again as a key chapter in the annals of Canada's Christian heritage.
